Checking up on underage drinking (Daily Illini)

“We chose Tuesday because it’s Mardi Gras and is historically a bigger drinking night,” said Champaign police coordinator for bar checks, Sgt. Scott Friedlein, saying why police chose the day to set out with blank tickets ready to be filled. Underage drinking tickets are city ordinances and stay within the city of Champaign if paid within 21 days of the date it was issued.
